1. Dr. Abraham Joseph – Chairman, IISAC (Former Senior UN Diplomat)
Dr. Abraham Joseph is an international expert on International Economic Development Policy and Practice with over 30 years of experience as a United Nations Advisor and also as a Government Advisor.
Upon completion of his tenure with the UN, Dr. Joseph represented Pubic Service Institute, University of Oklahoma (PSI/OU) in the UN meetings and contributed to “2030 Development Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals (2015 – 2030)”. He also has represented PSI/OU in the USAID meetings held in New York and Washington D.C. In July 2016, Dr. Joseph represented the PSI/OU in the “White House Summit on Global Development” in Washington D.C. hosted by President Barack Obama; and also in the President’s Global Development Council Meetings.
As Senior Socio-Economic Adviser of the United Nations (UN), he actively contributed to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (2000 -2015) and also contributed inputs to the formulation of the United Nations Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals which was later adopted by the 193 countries in September 2015.
A highlight of Dr. Joseph’s career has been an extended relationship with Timor-Leste (East Timor) as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste in 2011. Prior to this assignment, he was Chief/ Senior Socio-Economic Affairs Advisor of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT). He has also served in various capacities at the United Nations Headquarters, notably Office for Economic and Social Council Support and Coordination, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (OESC/DESA); Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS); Secretariat of the Chief Executives Board for United Nations System Coordination (CEB); Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa (OSCAL); UN/DIESA’s Division for Policy Analysis and Research; and UN Center for Transnational Corporation (UNCTC).Also Dr. Joseph has guided interns at the UN for over 20 years from various Universities.
Before his tenure at the United Nations, Dr. Joseph worked in Government of India’s Planning Commission under leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh, ( Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and later former Prime Minister of India) and at India’s Ministry of Finance’s Department of Economic Affairs in New Delhi.
Dr. Joseph holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics from India. He conducted his advance research in Tokyo under the Japan Foundation Fellowship Program with the eminent economist, late Dr. Saburo Okita, (former Chairman of the Japan Economic Research Center, who later became Foreign Minister of Japan). He attended several special training programs/courses which included organized by Folke Bernadotte Academy, Sweden on “Economic Actors in Conflict Prevention and Peace Building”; the US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California on “Promoting Livelihoods in Conflict -Affected Environments” and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Inter-Regional Project Program on “Trade Protectionism”.
Dr. Joseph recently co-authored a book with economist, Takako Hamaguchi titled “Timor-Leste: The History and Development of Asia’s Newest Nation’. His first book was on “India’s Trade with Japan: Challenges and Opportunities”. He has also prepared books on African development issues published by the United Nations and published articles in journals.
Dr. Joseph is a member of the American Economic Association (AEA), USA; Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS), USA and the Asia and the Pacific Policy Society (APPS), Australia
2. Dr. Sunny Luke – Vice Chairman, IISAC (Distinguished Medical Scientist and Graduate Professor, NJ, USA)
Dr. Sunny Luke, the founder chairman of IISAC, having thirty years of experience in Medical Research and teaching in various Medical Institutions and Universities in USA is now serving as the Director of International Education and Research. As a research professor, he taught graduate level courses in Medical Genetics, Human Genome, Cytogenomics, Cancer Biology, Cell Pathology, Molecular medicine, Human Evolution, Reproductive Biotechnology, Tissue Engineering, Stem Cell technology, Clinical Molecular Biology & Immunology.
He has published more than 70 scientific papers, several text book chapters in reference books. His scientific articles were featured in prestigious international journals like, Nature Genetics, Journal of Cell Science, American Journal of Human Genetics, Lancet, Genomics, Human Evolution and American Journal of Medical Genetics. Dr. Luke received his graduate education, research and medical training from Adelphi University, Fordham University, University of Toledo, Department Pediatrics Greater Baltimore Medical center and Division of Genetics Long Island College Hospital, New York.
He conducted several continuous education lectures for Pathology & Pediatrics residents, Medical professionals, Biotechnology professors and Molecular Pathology lab Scientists. He introduced Professional master’s degree programs in Medical Genetics, Cancer Biology, Stem cell Technology and Molecular pathology by connecting Adelphi University with regional research centers and biotechnology industries in and around New York city. He is one of the early scientists who developed precision medicine in Oncology by targeting gene behavior in breast cancer progression.
Being one of the founders of IISAC, he has been guiding American study abroad students and professors through South India for over 25 years. He has traveled extensively both in USA and India and knows what type of cultural experiences the US students are looking for while in India. He encourages American students to develop cross-cultural skills through educational tours, blog writing, reflection papers, cultural exchange and short documentary films. With an extensive knowledge of Kerala’s society and culture, Dr. Luke is one of the editors of “Introduction to Kerala Studies”, a first of its kind inter-disciplinary book on Kerala. Currently he is serving as scientific seminar speaker and advisor in Genetics, Molecular Medicine and Biotechnology to various universities in India and USA.
3. Engr. Alex V. Koshy – Executive Director, IISAC
Alex V. Koshy is one of the founders of IISAC and its Executive Director. He oversees the administrative activities of IISAC in relation to student’s recruitment, US and Indian university collaborations, and student visa issues. He also serves as the PRO of IISAC to represent both the print and visual media in USA and India. He holds an Engineering degree [B.E.] from the National Institute of Engineering, Warangal and a Masters degree in Business Management [MBA] from the Cochin University of Science & Technology [CUSAT], Cochin, India.
As a professional engineer, he worked as the Engineering Manager of Hindustan Insecticides Lid and Maintenance Superintendent of Indian Rare Earths ltd, Alwaye before migrating to USA in 1990 He worked for the City of Newark for over 25 years at different capacities such as Principal Planner Environmental and Fleet Manager of Water & Sewer Utilities Department, City of Newark, New Jersey, USA. He was commissioned by the New Jersey State Governor as a Commissioner into the Board of the NJ State Dr. MLK Jr. Commission, to promote the vision and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
His professional expertise and community leadership have stood in good stead for him as the Project Coordinator for the successful implementation of the IISAC’s three yearlong project of publishing the Book on Kerala, titled “An Introduction to Kerala Studies.” Former Global President & Founder General Secretary of the World Malayalee Council-a Diaspora organization of people of Kerala, India. Presently he is the Chairman of Pravasi Conclave Trust [PCT]
4. Mr. Abraham Thomas – Director of Administration, IISAC
Mr. Abraham Thomas is the Director of Administration of IISAC and is responsible for the administrative and financial matters. Abraham is an accomplished professional with a diverse educational and professional background. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Kerala University in India, a LLB from M. S. University, Baroda, India, and MBA from Monmouth University, New Jersey, USA.
Abraham began his career with the Oil and Natural Gas Commission a Govt. of India undertaking,, where he worked on Drilling and Pipe Lines Projects Contracts & Logistics. He then moved to the United States and worked for Interdata/Perkin Elmer, NJ as an Electronic Technician to begin with, and followed to become the Systems Planner and the Financial Administrator of its Special Systems Division.
Abraham's career in the insurance industry began at Continental Insurance Co. in New York, where he worked in various roles, including Data Center Neptune, NJ for business segment’s IT coordination and support, Assistant Vice President of Financial Risk Division in New York, and Director of Operations & Chief Information Officer at Continental Credit Insurance Division in New Jersey. After the Continental Insurance merger with CNA Insurance Co., Abraham became a corporate Vice President and the Chief Information Officer & Chief Financial Officer for the CNA Credit Insurance Division in New Jersey.
Currently, Abraham has Tax Practice, Residential Mortgage in association with Mortgage World Bankers, Commercial Mortgage in association with private lenders, and he is a Real Estate Agent, a Notary Public and a Certified Signing Agent. He consistently spares his time and talent to serve non-profit/charity organizations:
5. Dr. Rajeev Thachil – Director, Medical Education & Clerkship Abroad India Program, IISAC
Dr. Rajeeve T Thachil MD is a consultant pulmonary, critical care and sleep physician and a member of the faculty at the St. Luke's University Hospital network, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, sleep medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine. He has been actively involved in patient care as well as medical education and clinical research.
Dr. Thachil obtained his medical degree from St Johns Medical College, Bangalore, one of the prestigious medical institutions in India. He is also a postgraduate (MD) in internal medicine from the same institution. He has membership of the Royal College of the physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP). In the United States, after his internal medicine residency with the Medical College of Pennsylvania at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Philadelphia, Dr. Thachil did fellowship in pulmonary medicine with the State University of New York, at the Coney Island Hospital, New York. He did his critical care training at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He was Associate Professor and Chief of division of pulmonary and critical care at the West Virginia University in Charleston, West Virginia. He was also the Director of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at the Easton Hospital affiliated with Drexel University Philadelphia. He also served as the Director of intensive care unit at the Easton Hospital. He was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine with the Drexel University School of Medicine of Philadelphia
Dr. Thachil has been involved in teaching and training medical students, residents and fellows over the decades. He has been awarded the “Teacher of the Year award” on multiple occasions. He has been involved in clinical research and has presented papers at various professional conferences. He has published in various peer reviewed journals. He has been invited to give lectures and grand rounds on various pulmonary medicine topics.

1. Dr. Ngan F. Huang ( Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Stanford University)
Dr. Huang known as Tina in her friends circle is one of the founders of IISAC and served as its chairperson for six years. From the very beginning of IISAC, she was responsible for conducting several career seminars in local high schools and colleges, publishing interdisciplinary journal called Alpha Vision and bringing grants from several sources to support IISAC’s youth empowerment activities. She provided several research internships in her laboratory for those students who have potential to become medical scientists in the future.
Ngan F. Huang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University and Principal Investigator at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. Dr. Huang completed her BS in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by a PhD in bioengineering from the University of California Berkeley & University of California San Francisco Joint Program in Bioengineering. Prior to joining the faculty, she was a postdoctoral scholar in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University. Her laboratory investigates the interactions between stem cells and extracellular matrix microenvironment for engineering cardiovascular tissues to treat cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases. Dr. Huang has authored over 90 publications and patents, including reports in Nat Med, PNAS, and Nano Lett. She has received numerous honors, including a NIH K99/R00 Career Development Award, Fellow of the American Heart Association, a Young Investigator award from the Society for Vascular Medicine, a Young Investigator Award from the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society-Americas, and a Rising Star award at the Cell & Molecular Bioengineering conference. Her research is funded by the NIH, Department of Defense, California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, American Heart Association, and Department of Veteran Affairs.
2. Mr. Sanoop Luke
Sanoop is an independent advisor and executive coach based in London. He has nearly two decades of business experience - strategy, content development, monetization, M&A, and launching new digital products. He's previously worked at Google/YouTube (Singapore), Warner Bros/Turner (Hong Kong, Atlanta), and NBC Universal (New York, LA). He has a degree in Economics from Emory University.
